Title „University Professor“ awarded to Alfred Paul Blaschke

Our leading member Ao.Univ.Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn. Alfred Paul Blaschke was awarded with the title "University Professor" by the President of Austria in December 2019.

Prof. Blaschke, born 1956 in Upper Austria/Linz, completed his diploma studies in civil engineering in Innsbruck and Vienna. He graduated in 1982 with a degree in engineering, received his doctorate as Dr. techn in 1990, and habilitated in 2010. From 2007-2019 he was a member of the senate of the TU Vienna.

The groundwater and modelling expert has been teaching at the TU Vienna since 1985. He has published more than 100 articles, and has led numerous projects on topics dealing with groundwater and water management. His international research studies took himto France, China, New Zealand, Canada and Jordan among others.

Prof. Blaschke is head of the hydrology working group at ICC Water & Health and the groundwater management working group at the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Hydrology. His research topics include

  • Further development of numerical models for the transport of microorganisms
  • Laboratory and field studies to derive the parameters that influence the transport of microorganisms under natural conditions
  • Risk assessment of pollutant inputs (focus on microbiological pollution)
  • Hydrological/hydraulic analysis in interdisciplinary projects in the field of water management

Alfred Paul Blaschke is a demandedconsultant to the public sector (from municipalities to provincial governments and ministries) in Austria and Germany. For instance, he is an expert on water management for the Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism in Austria. In addition, he is a member of various professional associations and working groups on water management with a focus on groundwater and drinking water.
